DESPITE ALL ODDS
An innocent rose just emerging
into this world so cruel,
Not even yet a bud,
Such a beauty with strength and courage,
Surviving the hardships of her surrounding,
Thunder and rain crashing down upon her roots,
Yet, she still stands.
Harsh winds pushing and pulling,
Still she stands,
Standing alone slowly emerging, hanging strong.
Those
around her crumble and fall,
Unable to withstand the torture and abuse,
And she still pushes her way up,
Staying undiscouraged by the weakness that surrounds her,
Surpassing the hardships of nature and man,
Defying the odds against her,
She starts to bloom,
those walk by and admire her beauty,
Unknown of the treacherous weather she had withstood,
Insects
fly by taking her soul so they may live,
Taking for their own needs,
Leaving her shallow and empty,
Yet, she still illuminates with beauty,
An evil created by man arrives,
Spraying her with a vicious venom that burns and stings,
Seeping into her pores, crushing her soul,
Creatures dying around her,
Their bodies lay upon her motionless.
Such
burden taking away from her liveliness,
Now those walk by, only glimpse and pass on,
Sadness fills her as they pick those around her,
Those seemingly more innocent and pure,
Ones who yet to see nor experience the hardships she endured,
Life within her drains out lonely and sad,
Left alone to die,
Never receiving the admiration of her beauty despite the abuse.
Such
a cruelty to allow a beauty to stand alone,
Only a little nurturing is all she needs,
A simple act to clear away the facade created by abuse,
Just a simple feed as water,
Only a little time and affection to bring out her illuminating beauty,
Out of a rose so delicate, beautiful and fragile.
So much cruelty to leave such a small delight alone,
To stand alone and die alone,
Without ever exploring the happiness one can bring, despite all odds.
